Pavones Beach

About 12 kilometres on the road to Rio Claro turn right to Play Pavones (signalled). The drive takes over the newly build steel bridge Rio Coto, mostly trhough farming land to Conte.

Here is turn right and followed the signs to Playa Pavones. The 20 kilometres long trail leads over a platform with beautiful view to the cost and Osa Peninsula.

In contrast to the quiet sandy beach of Zancudo here the water is rough. Next small sandy beaches, large stones mark this picturesque area.

The best, know one of the longest left hand breaking wave, attracts adventitious surfers from all over the world.

Meeting point is the restaurant in in Rio Claro de Pavones. The road continues through beautiful country side to the village Bunta Banco.

Travel back to Golfito, it is possible instead to turn left in Conte go right. A paved road leads you to Bella Vista and Laurel (turn left at gas station) to the border crossing to Panama by Paso Canoas.

From here are still 45 minutes drive to Golfito.
